Homicides, contract killings and other criminal activities have been increasing in the last months of the year, a situation that is due to the fact that our country has dedicated very few resources to criminal justice and the prison system, as warned by the former Minister of Security, Rodolfo Aguilera.

He explained that a Public Ministry without the resources cannot prove 100% of a crime and the connection, perhaps it can prove 60 to 50% and the judge is obliged to acquit or declare not guilty; then those who are deprived of liberty go to a penitentiary center that does not have the resources to rehabilitate, reintegrate and resocialize the convict, and the effect that this produces is that 85% reoffend and the prisons do not solve the problem, they simply postpone it.

Aguilera indicated that it is necessary to attack the problem from the beginning: “resocialize the young person who has not yet been convicted so as not to have to condemn the adult.”

He stated that this Government spends $150 million providing shelter, food and security to criminals in prisons, and many of these criminals are sociopaths and have no cure.
