“To reach this position there was not only an electoral battle, but an ideological battle with clear signs of severe sexist overtones. They reminded us of when in the 19th century the topic of the role of women in society was discussed and phrases such as ‘a woman who learns Latin does not find a husband nor has a good end’ or ‘a woman who becomes independent does not attend mass’ were even coined. For this reason, I tell all Veracruzanas, taking the saying of our president, that ‘I am not arriving alone, we are all arriving,'” the president noted.
From the state Congress, the governor committed to eradicating any type of discrimination, whether based on gender, origin, ethnicity or creed. He also mentioned that for the 2025 budget, more than 400 million pesos were included to begin the construction of four justice centers for women, which will be located in Coatzacoalcos, for the southern zone; in the Port of Veracruz, for the central area; in Orizaba, for the high areas, and in Álamos, for the northern area.
“There will be prosecutors, specialized judges, shelter facilities to care for all those who suffer violence, as well as the current Special Prosecutor’s Office for Attention to Violence against Women, the term ‘to eradicate feminicide’ will be added. ‘and protection measures may be requested without the need to file a complaint or initiate an investigation file, which will be dealt with immediately by an online judge,” he declared.
In terms of security, the governor commented that she will present an organizational restructuring reform to increase intelligence and surveillance in the state, return to the municipalities their rights of transit and mobility and eliminate concessions that “abuse and are inefficient”, which will be replaced by coordination between the state and municipality.
She also mentioned that her husband and two children will accompany her in her new public position, however, she clarified that they will do so in a respectful and responsible manner towards the people of Veracruz; In addition, she stated that one of her goals is that she is not the only woman to become the governor of the state.
“To the Veracruz men and women I say: I am a capable, strong and prepared woman and that in these next six years you will see me working for what the people of Veracruz mandated me to be their governor with “a”. I am fortunate to have a supportive family, who have always supported me and in this task they will walk by my side in a respectful and responsible manner towards the people of Veracruz.
“One of my goals is that in this state, although I am the first, I am not the only one, that more women arrive after me. I tell the people of Veracruz: I am not going to fail you and what keeps me here is my deep love for Veracruz,” he declared.
