In the march that took place this Thursday to ask for justice for the murder of the children Gael and Alexander, who died with their father in the attempt of a theft of his vehicle, the governor did not receive the protesters.
Convened by professors of the Elementary School in which Alexander studied, dozens of citizens went out to protest the climate of violence that is going through in the entity: shootings, executions, disappearances, car fires are part of the day to day in the entity.

Violence is not new in Sinaloa. Between 2008 and 2013, the entity registered up to 2,000 annual homicides. Between 2014 and 2015, the crime had considerable casualties by reporting less than 1,000. However, a new increase occurred between 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Between 2019 and 2023, homicide figures were less than 900 per year, but 2024 that reality was transformed. The arrest of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada detonated one of the worst crises of violence in the entity.
Neither the shipment of military, nor the presence of the Secretary of Public Security and Citizen Protection (SSPyPC), Omar García Harfuch, have managed to pacify that entity. The 2024 closed with 994 malicious homicides, of which 656 (65%) were recorded since September, when the beginning of the dispute between factions of the Sinaloa cartel, “Los Chapitos” and “Los Mayitos” were identified.
The awkward of the 4T
Rubén Rocha has been persecuted the controversy for practically the 39 months he has been in the Sinaloa government.
Oppositors have accused him of an alleged financing of drug trafficking. He denied it and assured that his campaign was lawful and legitimate.
“It is a dirty campaign, my choice is duly sanctioned by all organs and among them the body that analyzes the campaign and income of candidates,” said the president.
After the arrest of Ismael Zambada, the governor faced one of his main controversies. In his initial statement, the co -founder of the Sinaloa cartel said he was going to meet him when he was kidnapped and forced to go to the United States, where he was arrested.
“Joaquín Guzmán López asked me to attend a meeting to help resolve differences between the political leaders of our State. I was aware of an ongoing situation, dispute between Rubén Rocha Moya, governor of Sinaloa, and Héctor Melesio Cuén Ojeda, Federal former congressman, mayor of Culiacán and rector of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, “said Zambada.
The governor denied that version and assured that there were those who intended to “make it narco to forces.”
For those accusations, then President Andrés Manuel López Obrador told him his support. She also received the support of the then elected president Claudia Sheinbaum, as well as the governors of Morenista extraction.
Already in office, Sheinbaum back back to Rocha Moya. In the National Palace, at the end of 2024 he denied that there was some open investigation against the governor of Sinaloa.
