The former Brazilian footballer Robinho, in prison for a group rape committed in Italy in 2013, was transferred this Monday from a prison known as ‘the prison of the famous’ to another prison, at the request of his lawyers, according to judicial sources.
The Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration of São Paulo did not specify the reasons for the transfer, which according to various local media was due to a request from the lawyers of the former player of the Santos, Real Madrid, Milan and Manchester Cityamong other clubs.
Upset by the impact of a series
According to these versions, it was Robson de Souza himself, who became famous in football as Robinho, who asked his legal representatives to process the transfer, upset with the impact that a television series has had on the Tremembé prison, where he was held until now.
The series, which does not include Robinho’s case, is about various people who served their sentences in Tremembé for murders and other crimes that at the time caused a strong commotion in Brazil and cites that institution as ‘the prison of the famous’.
With the court’s approval, the former soccer player will continue serving in a prison in the São Paulo city of Limeira the nine-year prison sentence handed down by Italian courts for his participation in the group rape committed on a young woman in a Milan nightclub in 2013. At that time he played for Milan.
