The former minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Roberto Sánchez ruled on the preliminary arrest against the vacated former president Pedro Castilloin the framework of investigations for the alleged crime of rebellion.
After having gone to the headquarters of the Public Ministry to give his testimony about the aforementioned investigation against Castillo Terrones, the also congressman of Cambio Democrático considered that the detention of the former president was arbitrary and illegal.
“The preliminary arrest resolution that has been made to President Pedro Castillo is not duly motivated, therefore it is arbitrary and illegal. Today, all the political forces and the constitutional succession in the Government Palace, under the responsibility of President Dina Boluarte, who considers that we cannot go to confrontation as we have had these seven months”, stated the press.

Along the same lines, Sánchez reiterated that the decision made by the former head of state when carrying out a coup last Wednesday, December 7, was not agreed upon by the Council of Ministers.
“The ministers were not summoned to a formal session to discuss this item on the agenda or in a formal, informal or social dialogue. This decision was not assumed by any of the ministers, therefore, today I have come to reaffirm it.“, held.
Likewise, the former official said that the solution to the political crisis in the country is with an advance of general elections. However, he asserted that this mechanism must be agreed upon and discussed.
