The candidate Roberto Enríquez insisted on the need to repeal the Seed Law, which he has described as an ideological flaw “that has the Venezuelan farmer in prehistory. The Copeyano leader visited several municipalities in Mérida over the weekend to listen to the particular situation of the farmers of that entity
The primary candidate for the Copei party, Roberto Enriquezassured that Venezuelan farmers “are more demotivated” which, in his opinion, can lead to a famine due to the refusal to stop producing more food due to the restrictions of the government of Nicolás Maduro.
“Every day Venezuelan farmers” are more demotivated, the mistreatment to which they are subjected by Maduro can cause them not to want to produce more food and a famine to occur in Venezuela,” said Enríquez during his tour of the state of Mérida.
The Copeyan leader visited several municipalities in that state over the weekend to listen to the particular situation of Merida farmers, after learning of the arrest of a producer from the region for throwing away his harvest, who was later released.

Enríquez stressed that the serious problems of fuel, destroyed roads, supply of fertilizers and pesticides, land ownership, financing, marketing and seed quality problems have turned food production in Venezuela “into a true ordeal.”
In addition, he insisted on the need to repeal the Seed Law, which he has described as an ideological flaw “that has the Venezuelan farmer in prehistory (…) We are going to repeal that Jurassic Seed Law that makes everything more expensive for the farmer, limits field production to a minimum and doubles the cost of agrochemicals.”
