More than 5 thousand people from the Guanuma sector, La Victoria municipality, and from the populous Gualey neighborhood (in the Capital) were impacted with the services offered by the Strategic and Special Projects Directorate of the Presidency (Propeep) in the Inclusion Days “First You” and “Close to You”.
In his opening remarks, the director general of the state agency, Roberto Ángel Salcedo, reaffirmed that the most vulnerable neighborhoods and communities in Greater Santo Domingo and the interior of the country are a high priority for the government of President Luis Abinader.
“In other times, people in vulnerable conditions had to travel long distances in search of services. Today we do it the other way around, and it is the Government that comes to you to assist and accompany you in a determined and permanent manner,” he said.
The official highlighted the many social initiatives and programs that have been implemented to improve the living conditions of these sectors.
He emphasized that President Luis Abinader’s efforts are focused on democratizing and pluralizing the Government’s social action, extending its reach beyond large urban centers to reach all territories of the country.
“President Abinader’s focus and commitment to those most in need is evident in each of the actions we have taken. Vulnerable neighborhoods and communities in Santo Domingo and across the country are receiving the attention and resources they need to improve their quality of life and prosper,” said Roberto Ángel.
Among the social policies mentioned, there are programs to improve infrastructure, access to basic services, education and health, training in technical-professional courses, among others.
These measures seek not only to alleviate immediate needs, but also to generate a lasting impact that promotes sustainable development and social inclusion.
He stressed that the government’s performance has been recognized both nationally and internationally for its focus on social justice and comprehensive development.
In this regard, the official highlighted that, thanks to the social policies and the efficient and sustained food production applied by this government, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), undernourishment was reduced in the country by 55% (between 2020-2023), which means that around half a million families were freed from hunger.
