“Eventually that will come”, is how the producer and businessman Roberto Ángel Salcedo responded to the question of why he is not in any public function in the government headed by President Luis Abinader.
The young politician assured that this decision corresponds to the head of state and that for the moment he considers himself a promoter and collaborator of the PRM government, understanding that this political organization is doing important things that must be communicated.
“That is already a prerogative of the president if at some point we enter, I leave that to your consideration but I have really been very close to what the president has requested of me. We have a very fluid, very cordial relationship,” said the also actor at the Caribbean Multimedia Breakfast, made up of elCaribe and CDN.
Salcedo specified that for the 2020 elections he became a soldier of the PRM campaign and assumed responsibility with nothing in return, an action that took him to a large part of the national territory in just 50 days of campaigning.
“This time in government has allowed me to strengthen a bond of affection, respect and affection for the President, the campaign for the characteristics that we all know, the time of the pandemic, did not allow it because the president was affected by covid,” he said.
Roberto Ángel is focused on promoting President Abinader and harbors the hope that the president will run for a second presidential term.
“From a political point of view, I see myself focused on promoting the President at this stage. He has a constitutional authorization, although it is a decision that he will have to make at the time, I hope that the decision will be presented. He would be our best candidate », he reiterated
And it is that, for the young politician, the issue of the pandemic has consumed the time and resources of the Dominican State and has not allowed the authorities to develop the government program that they had projected.
The producer made it clear that he has no aspirations to positions in the National Congress.
“I think that a deputation would limit you to 15 or 20 square kilometers when at the level of the entire national territory, I can provide the president and a national candidacy like his with some important service.”
The businessman, who is studying a master’s degree in Public Policy Management at the University of Washington, said that the integration of young people in politics enriches the debates and processes in this branch.
Salcedo specified that he participates weekly in strategic meetings of the Government.
He valued as positive the changes that have been made in the Government Communication, although he indicated that there will always be challenges.
