The general secretary of the Unified Union of Buenos Aires Education Workers (Suteba), Roberto Baradel, pointed out that “the education budget should not have cuts”and considered that “it is the speculators and not the salaries that generate the inflation”.

“The salary is not the one that generates inflation, speculators do it. We have to have a decoupling policy between food prices and the value of exports, big businessmen in Argentina also have to make an effort. Unfortunately, not now they are doing it,” Baradel told FM Futuröck.

Asked about the 2023 Budget, the head of Suteba said that on Monday he will hold a meeting with the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, to discuss the contents of the initiative in relation to education.

“The salary is not what generates inflation, speculators do it. We have to have a decoupling policy between food prices and the value of exports. The big businessmen in Argentina also have to make an effort. Unfortunately, now they’re not doing it”

“The education budget does not have to be cut, it has to increase,” said Baradel.

On the project for judges to pay Earningsthe trade unionist was of the opinion “that the judges have to earn well, but if there is a general tax it is good that they have been incorporated so that they pay it”.

He was also consulted about the criticism of former president Mauricio Macri, who days ago had pointed out that “you cannot live with trade unionists like Baradel.”

For the member of the CTA, the former president has “a very authoritarian conception”, but he also said that “translated” Macri’s comment meant that “with guys like Baradel we cannot do business with health, with education and continue looting the country”.

He also assessed that the opposition currently wants to “appear to society as the champions of education” when in reality, “they abandoned schools and gardens” and left “finished hospitals that they did not inaugurate.”

In an electoral key for next year, he affirmed that “we must create a space that is determined to carry out public policies that can transform reality,” and that is capable of “including all Peronisms.”
