Year of works in AJUPENCEL, all the ceilings were redone
The work, very necessary, required an investment of 4 Million Pesos, of which 2 Million were contributed by the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works through the Social Agreements area, and the other 2 Million came from the coffers of the institution itself.
AJUPENCEL plans other improvements at the headquarters on Aparicio Saravia Street, where paintings on the façade and interior spaces stand out.
“With financial help from the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works, we completely renovated the roof of the institution. That represented a fairly high cost that forces us to make some savings in order to be able to meet all the commitments we have” Anselmo Orihuela pointed out.
He commented during the live interview on EL PROFESIONAL Radio on Monday, December 15, that the change was substantial. Although it was placed on top of what was already there, the roof was made completely new. “A few days ago we had the formal delivery of the Report from the Ministry of Public Works” said.
“Now we are focused on the second part, which consists of painting, making repairs to the walls, making the new sanitary installation and openings. There is a lot of work because we are also talking about very large walls, doors and windows, so what seems simple is not so simple” he stated.
Having had the work underway for much of the year, both physical and recreational activities that normally take place in the main hall of the headquarters, had to be moved to other locations so as not to interrupt them. “We have been operating for about two months now, again. 100% in our premises” confirmed.
UNION AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Taking care of the buildings has not meant that other essential aspects in the life of AJUPENCEL such as the social and union aspects are neglected.
“We are following a roadmap that has been prepared and is constantly updated. Every month we have meetings at the Social Security Bank with other public institutions, such as INMAYORES, and also social organizations” stood out.
“With that we outline everything that is done during the year” Orihuela said.
ONAJPU ALREADY HAS A CANDIDATE FOR THE BPS ELECTIONS
The National Organization of Retirees and Pensioners of Uruguay holds regional meetings periodically and once a year a large national congress held at the Argentino Hotel in the City of Piriápolis.
“We are there for two days, dealing with all the issues that have arisen during the year. On this occasion, the particularity that it had is that the candidate had to be chosen to represent retirees and pensioners on the BPS Board of Directors” He said in relation to the electoral event that will take place next year.
“In this case Estela Obelar was chosen” announced the President of AJUPENCEL. “This is a Lady who has a very great prestige because she was, throughout her active life, an official of the Social Security Bank” reported. “He was always advising and helping the Directors representing the retirees with his wisdom” stood out.
90 associations and organizations of retirees from all over the country participated in this National Congress, with about 250 people representing them.
