Road accidents during Christmas have fallen by 71% in the country

Between midnight on December 23 and noon on Saturday December 24, 1,326,639 vehicles had moved on the roads of the countryduring the trips for the Christmas celebration, according to data provided by the Directorate of Transit and Transportation of the National Police (Ditra).

This figure represents 14% more vehicles mobilized compared to the same period in 2021, when the figure was 1,161,486.

Regarding Bogotá, 126,270 vehicles have left the capital, 9% more than in 2021, and 83,873 have entered, 14% more than the previous year.

Regarding accidents, until noon of this December 24, 49 events have been reported on the roads, 71% less than in 2021, when there were 168.

These facts have left 24 people deceased and 64 injured, with 74 vehicles involved.

And the most penalized offenses, so far, have been:

– Not carrying a driver’s license: 142.

– Driving motorcycles without observing the rules: 100.

– Technical mechanical review: 77.

– Obligatory insurance: 52.

– Informal transport: 39.

– Overtaking in prohibited zone: 19.

In total, the sanctioned offenses have been, for the moment, 429.
