The RN was the target of attacks orchestrated by a criminal organization that, supposedly, protests against the precarious conditions in the penitentiaries. Arson attacks were recorded against public buildings, commercial establishments and vehicles in at least 14 Potiguar cities.
Yesterday, one suspected of leading the criminal attacks was killed during confrontation with the police in João Pessoa (PB). According to the state Civil Police, the 29-year-old man was on the run and was located in a house in the neighborhood of Paratibe, in the capital of Paraíba. He would have shot at the civilian police before being hit.
Still according to the Civil Police, the suspect was taken to the hospital, but could not resist the injuries. Investigations point out that the man was responsible “for financing and distributing weapons to the group that carried out the attacks”. The police found a pistol and a car on him.
