RMV increase will be decided this month

The Minister of Labor, Daniel Maurate, stated that in the coming days the decision will be made on the increase in the Minimum Living Remuneration (RMV), one of the many populist promises of President Dina Boluarte.

“(The evaluation for the increase) of the minimum wage, I understand that it is advanced; There is already a position of both employers and workers in the productive sector. So these days it must be closing,” Maurate commented.

For this reason, the head of the Labor portfolio maintained that this month the National Labor Council plans to convene the Minimum Wages and Productivity Commission to find out what the report related to the adjustment of the minimum wage has been, and regarding that basis for making a decision.

He added that said increase in the RMV would come hand in hand with the commitment to improve productivity.

At another time, he stated that so far this year compared to 2023, there has been considerable growth in employment.
“In the occupied EAP we have grown more or less 4.5%, almost at the same speed that the GDP is growing. We have also reduced informality. In 2022, we will receive formal employment at almost 22% and, currently, we are at around 29%,” he commented.
