In her program ‘Sin guion’, Rosa María Palacios explained that Minister Santibáñez was in Pisco one day before appearing in Congress. “They already had him, and it turned out to be a scam, a deception, a show,” she commented in relation to the failed operation that tried to capture Cerrón after an alleged tip received via WhatsApp.
RMP explained that the information that led to the operation came from a WhatsApp message provided by a journalist in Ica. According to this source, the police mounted an operation to capture Cerrón, but the operation yielded no results. “They went to the supposed house where Cerrón was and there was nothing, no indication that he had been there,” Palacios said, highlighting that this type of action seems to respond more to political pressure than to intelligence work.
Palacios compared this operation with the failed attempt to capture Cerrón on January 17 in the Míkonos condominium, where no conclusive evidence of Cerrón’s presence was found. “It is presumed that he continued hiding from house to house and was extracted on February 24 towards Pisco,” he added, questioning the effectiveness of law enforcement and highlighting that high-ranking officials at the Government Palace were aware of these events without acting decisively.
