In a joint action, the Federal Revenue Service and the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police seized today (30) synthetic drugs, marijuana, crack, skunk and hashish in domestic postal packages at the Rio/Galeão International Airport. The work involved the participation of sniffer dogs from the Federal Revenue of Brazil.
The investigation began in September of this year, when it became mandatory to inform the sender’s CPF in all postal shipments in the country. A consignment of R$ 1,200 ecstasy pills was seized in Fortaleza (CE) and the same sender had sent drugs to recipients in other states, including Rio de Janeiro.
Based on these data, it was possible to identify a pattern in the shipment of narcotics, often with evidence of trafficking, given the large amount of drugs sent in the same package. Therefore, Correios was asked to retain more than 2,000 suspicious shipments, some originating in Rio de Janeiro and others with destinations in the city.
Servants from the Division of Surveillance and Repression of Smuggling and Embezzlement of the Federal Revenue Service in the 7th Fiscal Region (RJ/ES), agents from the International Airport Police Station and the Civil Police Department for Repression of Narcotics, in addition to experts from the Félix Institute took part in the operation. Pacheco (IFP) .
The amount of drugs seized as well as the value of these seizures is still being accounted for by the two institutions involved in the seizure.
