River Plate takes the friendly against Mexico in Buenos Aires

River Plate beat the national soccer team 2-0 at home on Tuesday Mexico in a friendly match that served the Argentine club as preparation for the local tournament that begins this weekend. The meeting marked the closing of the mini tour that the Mexican team made through South America as part of its preparation for the 2026 World Cup where it will host along with the United States and Canada.

In the match played in front of 80,000 fans at the Mas Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Giuliano Galoppo put River Plate ahead in the seventh minute with a powerful shot inside the area after a rebound after a corner kick.

Colombian Miguel Borja scored River’s second goal in the 33rd minute with a shot from outside the area, putting the ball into the right corner. The only arrival that Mexico had in the match that River Plate dominated was in the 36th minute with a header from Guillermo Martínez that goalkeeper Franco Armani controlled.
