The Ripley department store chain announced the closure of two of its stores in Peru, located on Jirón de la Unión, in the center of Lima, in the historic Palais Concert building, and in the Plaza del Sol shopping center, in Piura.
This decision was taken at the end of June 2024 as part of a restructuring strategy aimed at improving its financial performance.
According to Gestión, Ripley explained that “as a result of our ongoing evaluation of the performance of our points of sale, focus on the shopping experience, profitability and choice of locations in strategic points that strengthen the development of our physical-digital ecosystem, we decided to close the stores in Jirón de la Unión and Piura Plaza del Sol, which represented a smaller percentage of retail sales in Peru.”
The company will focus its efforts on branches close to these stores that are more highly valued by customers.
Ripley reduces its network of stores in Peru to 31 locations, distributed between Lima and other provinces in the country.
