the city of Rio of January revoked the requirement of proof of vaccine against covid-19 for access and stay in closed places, such as gyms, swimming pools, training centers, clubs, stadiums, Olympic villages, cinemas, theaters, circuses, concert halls, museums, children’s recreation, tourist attractions and trade fairs. The determination is in Decree No. 50,672, published today (26) in the Official Gazette of the Municipality.
The collection of the vaccination passport was announced in August 27 of last year and went into effect on the day september 15th. Yesterday (25), the Special Committee to Combat Covid-19 (CEEC) of the municipality, known as the Scientific Committee, recommended that the Municipal Health Department (SMS) temporarily suspend the charge.
The published standard today revokes Decree No. 49,894, of December 1, 2021, and Article 1, of Decree Rio No. 50,308, of sea 72022, which stipulated restrictions and determined that the passport would no longer be required only when the city reached the rate of 70% of the population over 18 years of age vaccinated with the booster dose.
The rate reached at the moment is 62.4%, but the decree considers that the current epidemiological situation “points to the maintenance of the stability scenario, with a drop in the number of mild cases, severe cases and deaths” in the municipality.
Epidemiological situation
According to data from the Municipal Health Department, the registration of new cases of covid-19 is below 100 in the seven-day moving average since the day April 7th. In the last 24 hours, 22 serious cases of the disease and 12 deaths were released into the system. In the moving average, the indicator of deaths is below five cases since March.
At the moment, 10 people are hospitalized with the disease in the city’s Unified Health System (SUS) network, which corresponds to 0.2% of the total hospitalizations.
Vaccination
The second booster dose, which began to be applied on the 4th to the elderly over 80 years old, begins to serve tomorrow (27) also the public from 70 years of age. From day may 4th people aged 65 and over can take the extra booster and those aged 60 or over can attend the posts from may 11.
The latest vaccination is for children aged 5 to 11 years. There are still 24% of this range to receive the first dose, which represents an estimate of 133,000 children. Of the total, 222,500 have already received the two doses of immunization against covid-19 and 204,400 have taken the first dose.
