Rio PM fights crimes in Alemão and Complexo da Penha

The Military Police took stock of the operation carried out this Friday (24) in the Alemão and Penha complexes, in Rio de Janeiro. Its main objectives were to control the actions of criminals and combat the theft of vehicles and cargo in the metropolitan region.

The State Secretariat of Military Police launched a broad operation to repress organized crime in the communities of Complexo do Alemão and Complexo da Penha. The PM says that the action continues and that the main points of sale of drugs in the communities are stabilized.

In the mobilizations, 500 police officers, 12 armored vehicles and two helicopters were used, as well as equipment to remove obstacles from the roads, operated by the Special Operations Support Center (Naoe).Rio PM fights crimes in Alemão and Complexo da Penha

The Specialized Rescue and Rescue Actions Group (Gesar) acted preventively using an armored ambulance.

Narcotics

Military police officers from the Dog Action and Shock Battalion seized around a ton of narcotic material, rolling materials and a rifle. The PM detained two suspects and collected an air conditioning unit, a refrigerator and a stove.

A military police officer was injured in Penha Circular, and was taken to Getúlio Vargas Hospital. His health condition is serious. Eighteen tons of various materials were removed along with 27 barricades.

During the operation, the Civil Police arrested a man who had escaped from the penitentiary system. The agents found a dismantling of stolen vehicles, located a property with around a ton of drugs and found a suitcase with cocaine base paste in a car. A grenade was found in a street and weapons were seized. The teams also located a marijuana greenhouse.
