Starting tomorrow (16th), the Rio Planetarium will hold inclusive summit sessions for people with intellectual and/or mental disabilities. The program will take place at the Carl Sagan dome, the largest in the southern hemisphere, and will feature film projections, stars and astronomer instructions.
Inclusive sessions will take place once a month, always on Saturdays, at 10:30 am. To provide more comfort to this audience, people’s access to the dome will be reduced and lighting and sound will be adapted.
The space already has an inclusive visit to the museum. Every Friday, the Museum of the Universe dedicates the hours from 12:00 to 13:00 exclusively for people with disabilities, with access to exhibitions and interactive experiments. From now on, exclusive visits to the museum will also be offered on Saturdays when the inclusive summit sessions will take place, at 10 am.
The initiative complies with Municipal Law No. 6,278, which establishes exclusive hours for people with intellectual and/or mental disabilities to visit museums and cultural houses in the municipality. The law determines the offer of exclusive hours, not less than one hour per week, to cultural houses. The expansion of the inclusive program of the Summit Session and Museum of the Universe for Saturdays is the result of requests from visitors and followers of the Planetarium.
