The Federal Police (PF) arrested, this Tuesday (19), a man suspected of having dropped a bomb against the Chinese consulate in Rio de Janeiro in September last year. At addresses linked to the man, the PF found 50 kg of cocaine and the equivalent of R$375,000 in cash, including reais, euros and dollars.
“On the morning of this Tuesday, the Federal Police launched Operation Muralha, with the objective of fulfilling two search and seizure warrants at addresses linked to a suspect of having thrown an explosive device at the Chinese Consulate, on 09/16/2021, in the neighborhood of Botafogo, south of Rio,” the police said in a statement.
According to the PF, the suspect would have used a silver sedan vehicle and parked at Praia de Botafogo. He walked to the Chinese consulate and threw the artifact, causing damage and endangering people who worked or lived there.
“During the execution of the warrants, the federal police – with the support of the sniffer dog Apollo -, found about 50 kg of cocaine, at addresses located in the neighborhood of Laranjeiras, which resulted in the man’s arrest, in the act. In addition to the drug, the police seized, in cash, R$362,000, 1,405 euros and US$899, totaling approximately R$375,000”, the PF detailed.
The prisoner was sent to the PF Superintendence in Rio de Janeiro, in Praça Mauá. Police did not release the suspect’s name.
