Taxes of the Municipal Institute of Sanitary Surveillance (IVISA-RIO) banned, in the early afternoon of Monday (18), a deposit in downtown Rio de Janeiro that irregularly stored a ton of cosmetics and weight loss products without authorization from the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa). The operation was motivated by an anonymous complaint to check the site hygiene.
Upon arrival of the inspectors, there was resistance from the people who worked in the warehouse. The agents had to request the support of the agents of the Municipal Secretariat of Public Order (SEOP) to have access to the deposit.
“It is very important that citizens reports to channel 1746 of the City Hall. We found here that several products without any record of Anvisa would be marketed, which could lead to problems for the health of the population,” explained IVISA President Aline Borges.
SEOP requested the support of military police. As an administrative measure, the goods were seized, and the establishment was filed and banned, due to the absence of a business license and inadequate cleaning conditions.
“The owner of the clandestine deposit was taken to the police station to provide clarification. This is a very worrying scenario. We will continue to act with integration in favor of the public order of the city,” said Secretary of Public Order, Marcus Belchior.
The deposit operated on Sete de Setembro Street, 128, in downtown Rio. The products seized by the city were removed in a truck and will be discarded later.
Strict norms
Anvisa establishes strict rules for the storage of cosmetics and weight loss products, aiming to ensure the safety and quality of these products. Irregular storage can lead to sanctions such as fines, product interdiction and even criminal proceedings, as well as putting the health of consumers at risk.
Cosmetics:
Inadequate cosmetics storage can cause exposure to extreme temperatures, excessive humidity or direct sunlight, may lead to change in formula, loss of efficacy and contamination, endangering skin health and consumer safety,
Weight loss products:
Inadequately marketed weight loss products may have even higher risks as they may contain non -approved substances or in inadequate concentrations.
