The security forces of the state of Rio arrested 23 criminals during a joint action, which is underway this Tuesday (28), in the region of Complexos da Penha and Alemão.
Operation Containment mobilizes 2,500 civil and military police officers. The goal is to capture criminal leaders in Rio and other states, in addition to preventing the territorial expansion of the largest faction in the state, Comando Vermelho. The two complexes are home to 26 communities.
According to the state government, the Recapture Group of the Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration (SEAP) also works in the operation, identifying fugitives from the prison system who benefited from the outing and they did not return to prison.
The operation, which also includes prosecutors from the State Public Prosecutor’s Office, was triggered by more than a year of investigation and search and seizure and arrest warrants obtained by the Narcotics Suppression Police Department (DRE).
Military police officers from the Special Operations Command and operational units of the PM in the capital and metropolitan region participate in Operation Containment. The Civil Police mobilized agents from all specialized police stations, districts, Core, the Anti-Money Laundering Department and the Intelligence Undersecretariat.
