The Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ), through the 2nd Specialized Criminal Investigation Prosecutor’s Office of the Duque de Caxias and Nova Iguaçu Centers, denounced, this Tuesday (22), six people, including partners and PCS Saleme employees. The laboratory is responsible for carrying out serology tests on transplant patients, under a contract with the Rio de Janeiro State Health Foundation. They were denounced for involvement in the contamination of six patients with HIV in organ transplants after false reports were issued by the PCS Saleme laboratory.
Those charged are accused of criminal association, serious bodily harm and ideological falsehood. One of the employees was also reported for falsifying a private document. The complaint forwarded to the Court includes a request for preventive detention of those involved, with the aim of ensuring the progress of the investigations. The process is being carried out under judicial secrecy, which is why no further information will be provided, informed the MPRJ.
The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, appointed doctor Marcus Vinícius Dias was appointedthis Tuesday (22) as the new executive director of Fundação Saúde. Dias will assume the position after the head of the Rio de Janeiro government accepts, this Monday (21), the resignation of the foundation board.
For the governor, the appointment of Marcus Vinícius Dias reinforces the transparency and security with which investigations into the contamination by the HIV virus of six people transplanted in the Unified Health System (SUS) in Rio de Janeiro, following false negative results in sample analyzes blood samples from two donors, carried out by the Dr Saleme Clinical Pathology Laboratory (PCS Saleme).
