Rio hosts Tour de France cycling competition

This weekend, Rio de Janeiro will host a cycling event that will tour tourist attractions and stretches cycled by Olympic cyclists at the 2016 Games. L’Étape Rio has the seal of the traditional competition Tour de France and will have races of 46 and 102 kilometers. Rio hosts Tour de France cycling competition

Although the competitions are only held on Sunday (26) in the morning, the promotion starts today (23) at Marina da Glória, where there will be exhibitions by sponsors, official brands and partners in the sport.

On Sunday, at 7 am, the competition will start at Marina da Glória and will travel through Aterro do Flamengo towards the seafront, also passing through the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon.

Route

The route continues towards the Botanical Garden, from where you will start to climb the Tijuca Forest through Vista Chinesa. Participants in the longest race will still need to make the way back, facing a total change in altitude that exceeds 1,000 meters. The awarding of winners is scheduled for 1 pm.

The first edition of L’Étape Brasil Santander by Tour de France it was in 2015, in the city of Cunha (SP). Since 2018, the race has been held in Campos do Jordão (SP), and last year it also arrived in Rio de Janeiro.

The eighth edition of the race in the interior of São Paulo will be held between the 23rd and 25th of September, in Campos do Jordão (SP).
