Establishments in Rio de Janeiro that have a large flow of people will have six months to install baby changing facilities in the men’s restrooms. The measure applies, for example, to mallssupermarkets, parks, sports stadiums and gymnasiums, cinemas, theaters, show and shows.
The obligation was imposed by municipal law sanctioned by Mayor Eduardo Paes and published in the Official Municipal Gazette on Thursday (29). It establishes that the facility must provide safe conditions for hygienic performance and diaper changes.
In case of non-compliance, the owners of the establishments will be fined. On the first occasion, they will pay R$10,000 and will have a month to adapt. The value increases with each recurrence of the infraction.
