The state of Rio de Janeiro remains under the green flag for the second consecutive week, which means very low risk for covid-19. This is what the 73rd edition of the Covid-19 Risk Map reveals, released today (18) by the State Department of Health (SES). The analysis compares this year’s eighth epidemiological week (ES 08), from 20 to 26 February, with the tenth week (ES 10), from 6 to 12 March.
The Secretary of State for Health, Alexandre Chieppe, highlighted that the data still show a significant reduction in hospitalizations and deaths. “This shows us a sustained drop in indicators and the consolidation of the epidemiological scenario of covid-19 in the state.”
The Metropolitan I, Metropolitan II, Baía de Ilha Grande, Baixada Litorânea and Norte regions have the green flag, while the Middle Paraíba, Serrana and South Center regions remain with the yellow flag, with low risk. The map also shows that the Northwest Region remained in the orange flag, with moderate risk, due to the occupancy rate of beds, which remains high. According to the SES, this is because, in this region, there was a longer stay of hospitalized people and the demobilization of municipal beds, due to the reduction in hospitalizations for covid-19.
