“You see how the recalcitrant right wing is advancing in Europe. “We are survivors of a pandemic, one of the greatest tragedies that humanity remembers. We have an ethical duty and a moral obligation to build something different. The international financial system distributes wealth to a few and poverty to millions”

Regarding the consequences of the war in Ukraine, the head of state said: “They are sowing hunger in the southern hemisphere. It is a war that globally affects the whole world. The voice of Latin America has to be present. It is very possible that Latin America ends up having a chance in this war, because need to produce food and energy“.

“Missiles fly in the north, hunger spreads in the south. How much longer are we going to put up with this injustice? We have to say enough. We’ve hit rock bottom with the pandemic. Enough,” he concluded.

energy reserves

Along these lines, the President indicated that the Argentina “has the second unconventional gas reserve” and the “fourth unconventional oil reserve” in the worldsomething that represents an “opportunity” to “put the surplus” in other parts of the globe.

However, Fernández stressed that “it is not only” Argentina that has hydrocarbons to export, but “also Brazil, Venezuela and Bolivia.”

“I would like to provide the world with all this from Latin America. If we develop all this, more investment and work is generated in our continent”he remarked.

“Between Chile, Bolivia and Argentina we have 60% of the lithium that the world needs,” he added about an energy that he considers “of the future.”

The direction of Latin America

In another order, Fernández said that currently “Latin America is rethinking its course” after some years of “attempts to destroy Mercosur” and having “shredded Unasur.”

“Gabriel Boric won in Chile, Gustavo Petro won in Colombia, Lula Da Silva is fighting in Brazil. God wants him to do well and that the Brazilians accompany him. We have a chance”highlighted the president.

At the end of his speech, Fernández was asked about the possible entry of Argentina into the group of bricks (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).

“I hope that they will soon let us join. I think there is a development alternative that can be very useful to us,” said the President, detailing that he had talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

In relation to the possibility that Argentina and Brazil design a common currency, Fernandez remarked that it is a project that “has been talked about for many years.”

“Brazil and Argentina are part of Mercosur and it is approximately 75% of the South American gross product. Integration through a common currency would be wonderful“said the President.

And he completed on the relationship with its largest commercial partner: “If the electoral results in Brazil occur as the polls predict, we can establish a simpler line of work.”
