“Right now there are at least 13 political prisoners planted in Cuban jails”

MIAMI, United States. – According to Cuban curator and activist Anamely Ramos, there are currently at least 13 political prisoners on hunger strike in Cuban prisons. In a recent facebook postRamos highlighted the resistance of these men who use “their bodies as almost the only resource” to continue the fight for freedom.

In his own words: “Right now there are at least 13 political prisoners planted in Cuban jails. From their bodies as almost the only resource, these brave men insist on continuing to be protagonists in the fight for their freedom and that of all.

Ramos’s publication coincides with the visit to Cuba of the high representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, a context in which activists and organizations for human rights have called for action and to condemn the Dialogue Agreement between the European Union (EU) and the Cuban regime.

“This is the moment. Stop the demagogy. The dialogue agreement between the EU and Cuba is a total shame with more than 1,000 prisoners and their families destroyed,” Ramos asserts, adding that only this year “at least 15 new people are being prosecuted.”

The activist urges not to abandon these political prisoners in their efforts and stresses the importance of supporting their cause. “We cannot leave them alone in that endeavor. There are many ways to protest, they do it by putting their bodies to the limit because they have nothing else, but we can do more things ”, she argues.

In his publication, Ramos also indicated the names of the protesting prisoners: Yosvany Rosell García in Holguín; José Rodríguez Herrada in Villa Clara; and Roberto Pérez Fonseca, Aníbal Yasiel Paula Jacinto, Juan Enrique Pérez Sánchez, Manuel Velázquez Licea, Lidier Ramón Hernández Urbita, Nilo Abrante Santiago, Yasiel Martínez Carrasco, Carlos Ernesto Díaz González, Maykel Puig Bergolla, Abel Lázaro Machado Conde and Williams (last name unknown ), in Mayabeque.
