Republican Senator for Florida Rick Scott said on the morning of this Friday, January 17, that it will be an “honor” to receive Edmundo González Urrutia in the United States – for the second time in less than a month – at the inauguration of the president-elect, Donald Trump, scheduled to take place on Monday the 20th.
Through his social networksScott revealed that González Urrutia will be present at the event because he is his “special guest.”

The afternoon of Thursday January 16the Command with Venezuela confirmed that the Venezuelan opponent would be present at the event to be held in Washington DC.
«The Government of the United States, being a great ally of the Venezuelan democratic cause, invited the legitimate President of Venezuela, Edmundo González Urrutia, to the inauguration of the President-elect, Donald Trump. González has confirmed his attendance, and will travel this weekend to the city of Washington, where he also hopes to meet with other members of the new administration,” the Command with Vzla indicated in a press release.

Days before January 10, the Venezuelan politician began a tour of several countries in America, which began in Argentina, with a view to seeking entry into Venezuela and trying to be sworn in as president; taking into account the support of the minutes held by the Command with Venezuela, which affirm that it was the opponent and not Nicolás Maduro who won the elections.
Upon arriving in the Dominican Republic, the last point on his initial agenda, he rejected the trip to Caracas due to the Executive’s threats to put him in prison.
That tour included a meeting in the United States, where he was received by the outgoing president, Joe Biden, and Senator Scott himself.
Rick Scott asks Brazil for explanations
On Thursday the 16thRick Scott sent a letter to the president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to offer a “clear and precise” response to statements by Nicolás Maduro in which he suggested that the Amazon nation would be collaborating with an action to “liberate” to Puerto Rico.
In the letter, Rick Scott called Maduro a “murderous dictator who oppresses the Venezuelan people” and stated that the Chavista leader’s words are “a dangerous and unacceptable threat against the United States.” He demanded an official position from the Brazilian government on Maduro’s speech, highlighting that Lula’s silence could be interpreted as collusion.
What is known is that the Brazilian Armed Forces are planning their largest military exercise in 2025 near the border with Venezuela. One of the objectives of the action is precisely to train its troops in case there is a new escalation of tension with Nicolás Maduro.
CNN spoke with military officials who informed him that the fact that Maduro has toned down his rhetoric regarding the seizure of Essequibo in Guyana does not guarantee stability in the region.
