The Federation of Rice Producers warned that there is a period of 45 to 60 days to distribute the fertilizer farmers to avoid a food shortage crisis in the country.
“The fertilizer should be distributed in about 45 or 60 days. It’s not just about rice, but it’s about other crops that are grown at different times and places.”he pointed out in dialogue with Successful.
He explained that to guarantee rice production for next year, the sowing campaign must start from August 2022 to July 2023. For this, it is necessary to have fertilizers.
“The campaign starts in August and we have been demanding to have a meeting with the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation. If we don’t have fertilizers, production begins to drop and then we would have food shortages “he added.
“We have had too high a production cost. In the Lambayeque region, we have had a production cost of S/ 12,000. This has meant that farmers have not had capital to invest [en fertilizantes] for this new campaignhe pointed out.
