The Board of Directors of Ecopetrol and its Audit and Risk Committee supported the management of the president of the oil company, Ricardo Roa, despite the fact that the Plenary Chamber of the National Electoral Council (CNE) decided to open an investigation and file charges against the campaign of the current President of the Republic, Gustavo Petroin which Roa served as campaign manager.

According to a statement from Ecopetrol, the nine members of the Board of Directors (Guillermo García Realpe; Mónica de Greiff Lindo, Tatiana Roa Avendaño; Edwin Palma Egea; Ángela María Robledo Gómez; Gonzalo Hernández Jiménez; Luis Alberto Zuleta Jaramillo; Álvaro Torres Macías and Juan José Echavarría Soto), supported the administrative, technical and operational management of Roa Barragán, who will continue in office.

“The Board of Directors will continue to exercise its role with due diligence and care, always ensuring that its decisions are in the best interest of the company and all its shareholders,” highlights the company’s statement.
During the investigation that the CNE will conduct, Ricardo Roa Barragán will exercise his right to defense within the framework of due process, but without leaving office.
