The president of the party and independent movement “Otro Camino”, Ricardo Lombana, referred this Thursday to the writing made by the Panamanian singer-songwriter Rubén Blades entitled “About Panama and the election of 2024” in which he pointed out that it is not necessary for him or others register separately as independent candidates for the 2024 elections, because there is already a “new collective, organized and willing to offer us such an opportunity. If the “Another Way” party did not exist, then the action of going it alone would be justified”.
Given this, Lombana said that Blades cannot endorse him because he does not know his commitment to dismantle clientelism. “I think I don’t even have to answer that. The birth of this activism is based on dismantling a patronage state”, he stated.
He affirmed that now he does have the expectation of a communication with the artist after this writing, for which he has publicly stated that everything he wishes to contribute is welcome to the country, for democracy and on behalf of the “Another Path” Movement, he urged him to get together, sit down and design a country plan.
He stressed that the invitation is not only for Blades but also for Ana Matilde Gómez, Juan Diego Vásquez, and even substitutes for independents and all those Panamanians who have shown that they think the same about how to attack the “corrupt state.”
According to Lombana, what some are looking for is for the independent bloc, of those who want to defeat “political mischief in this country, to divide, because if it divides, the PRD wins, Ricardo Martinelli wins.”
Regarding payroll partners, he said he is not thinking about that for now, but he is open to all possibilities.
