Ricardo Lombana: ‘Colón needs all the attention of the National Government and the country’

Establishing and reinforcing channels of communication with citizens and various organized groups in the province of Colón to jointly design a development plan for the future is the central objective of the first tour that, since yesterday, Ricardo Lombana and national leaders of the Otra Camino Movement have been carrying out. , while the deadline for the Electoral Tribunal to recognize the movement as a legally constituted political party expires.

This Thursday, on their first day of visit, the delegation met with businessmen from the Colon Free Zone who presented some recommendations and ideas to make significant changes in the free zone, especially in terms of sales and, consequently, of generation of more jobs for colonenses, which is one of its main goals.

Likewise, an important meeting was held with Michael Chen and Josimar Ortiz, president and executive director of the Chamber of Commerce of Colón, respectively, where the main problems and the alternatives proposed by the union were reviewed so that Colón regains its splendor and economic boom of past times.

“We visit you today with great respect and without any kind of political interest, only moved by a genuine interest in knowing your vision of the situation in Colón and offering our support to any initiative that benefits the province,” said Lombana, who congratulated the new directive that has been giving the organization a notable dynamism for a couple of months.

On Thursday there was also space to talk with leaders of popular movements in Colon, who accepted the invitation made by the movement to inform the group, out loud and in detail, what are the demands of the people in Colon that generated the recent strike and protests, what specific agreements they reached with the National Government and how compliance is evolving.

“We are in Colón in order to prepare ourselves and be ready to generate work, which is what Colonenses need, opportunities to achieve higher incomes that allow them to pay for food, medicine and cover their main needs. Colonenses deserve to have a dignified and quality life. I am not visiting Colón to tell them what they have to do, I am here so that it is the colonenses who present us with a comprehensive development plan for the province and accept it as a proposal of the Movement Another Path”, said Lombana about this important tour.

This Friday afternoon, starting at 2:00 pm, Ricardo Lombana will tour part of the Costa Arriba of the province, starting in María Chiquita, then walking through Portobelo and finally, talking with residents of Nombre de Dios.
