The hearing of the trial against Ricardo Anaya Cortés, former PAN presidential candidate, for bribery, criminal association and operations with resources of illicit origin, was postponed for the fourth time, now to February 14.
Sources close to the defense of the PAN and the Judiciary confirmed that the judge who will determine whether or not to link Anaya Cortés to the process was infected with covid-19. Ricardo Anaya Cortés has at this hearing the last opportunity to appear at the Federal Criminal Justice Center of the North Prison, to appear before a control judge as allegedly responsible for money laundering, bribery and criminal association, crimes for which the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic will request preventive detention.
The case is related to the reception of bribes given by the former director of Petróleos Mexicanos, Emilio Lozoya Austin, for the approval of the energy reform in the past six-year term.
The diligence of the former presidential candidate of the PAN was scheduled at 9 in the morning in charge of the control judge Marco Antonio Fuerte Tapia, who conditioned that Anaya had to be present in court. In the event that the PAN member does not attend, an arrest warrant will be issued against him and his status will be a fugitive from justice.
The prosecution accuses the PAN member of illicit enrichment and of having received bribes of 6.8 million pesos from Emilio Lozoya, who is imprisoned in the North Prison. The foregoing follows from Lozoya’s statement in which he involves former legislators and 30 other people in alleged acts of corruption committed between 2013 and 2015, associated with the Odebrecht corporation.
In November, the defense of Ricardo Anaya postponed the procedure for the third time, arguing that he could not review 137,000 pages that make up the investigation folder.
