The Brazilian Rhythmic Gymnastics team had already made history in March, when it finished with bronze overall (which unites the notes of the simple and mixed series) of the stage of Athens (Greece).
To secure bronze this Sunday, the Brazilian scored 30,650 points, behind only Uzbek Takhmina Ikromova, who ended up with gold, and Kazakh Elzhana Taniyeva, who secured silver.
“This medal is not mine alone. It belongs to everyone. Thank you very much Brazil for all the positive energy. All messages. Thank you very much. Kisses”, said Bárbara Domingos in a video message released by the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation (CBG).

“We had no idea that all of this would be possible at the start of the season, so it was a pleasant surprise, and very exciting. When the note came out, the audience started screaming and applauding, but we didn’t understand because we didn’t know the other notes. When they started doing number 2, we knew it was a medal, because there was only one gymnast missing. And the truth is that it hasn’t sunk in yet”, declared Bárbara’s coach, Márcia Naves, to CBG.
