MIAMI, United States. – The Cuban rapper Jesús Reyes, known as ReyD Reyes in the trap world, has had a life full of ups and downs and experiences that have taken him from studying Law in Barcelona to the adult film and music industry, according to what he told in an interview granted to Cuban newspaper.
Reyes told this medium how he has faced various situations and how they have influenced his musical career.
When his father’s support disappeared in Spain, the Cuban made dangerous decisions and plunged into organized crime, he said. “I had to change the chip because we were already playing on dangerous terrain and I didn’t want to end up in a prison in Spain having a mother in Havana,” he said.
However, he considers that these experiences in “dangerous terrain” made him grow as a person and have even inspired his lyrics.
Reyes worked in the hospitality industry for years, but realized that it was not the path for him. “I didn’t want to work a lot of hours to earn 1,000 euros and not have time to spend it,” he said. Thus, he entered the pornographic industry in Barcelona and became “the only black Cuban in the industry” in that city, according to himself.
Despite the prejudices surrounding adult cinema, Reyes is not ashamed of her work in this industry, which has allowed her to finance her dream of being a musician, she said.
The Cuban rapper also spoke about the impact that being a porn actor has had on his personal life and how the industry has contributed to the sexualization of black people and women, especially. He did not fail to recognize that engaging in pornography on the Island is illegal.
Currently, the artist is working on his album “Luces azules”, which he describes as “very social” and in which he addresses “problems with the Police and the feelings of the people in the neighborhood”.
In the interview, Reyes alerted other young Cuban migrants about the importance of facing and living with racism in Spain.
“Cubans are very proud, many times we believe that we know everything and we don’t. In the end we are locked in an Island and we don’t know much more than that. Now we read more news, but it is not the same, ”he assured.
