Reversing Boomerang…

Man dies after ingesting sexual stimulant in Moca

The current government that achieved its victory, in part, due to a well-orchestrated political-journalistic strategy -almost all its political opposition was carried out by its media and intellectual periphery and a once incisive senator who is hardly heard anymore- who in turn It was mounted in a citizen wave that bought the narrative of Change -Vengoechea- and a Green March that became a political-electoral movement and whose conspicuous sponsors-promoters (in expression of social weariness: civil society, middle class and entertainment figures ), the majority, are civil servants today; and those who are not drowned in state advertising or making opposition, not infrequently, more harsh and open than even the opposition itself – with the exception, of course, of the Perremeist leader Ramón Alburquerque. A symbiosis or amalgamation that is difficult to reconcile, and even more so when a reappointment is sought.

Add to the previous table, the global inflationary crisis, the cases of corruption -a systemic-structural and cultural phenomenon-, extradition, for accusations of drug trafficking and money laundering, of legislators, submissions and complaints of “workplace harassment”, improvisations in the public management and the fact, undeniable, that government is attentive to social networks and an anti-corruption discourse -already diminished-, and an “independent” justice contradictorily awaiting reform; above all, from the public ministry, so that it is independent. What a paradox!

However, the truth is that the current four-year term is almost over: in the fight against corruption, imponderables -inflationary crisis, loans and attention to the reaction-criticism of citizens expressed in social networks- and a rabid opposition-criticism of leaders of the same party of government (with emphasis on its oligarchic orientation) that, on multiple occasions, has stunned the government and the opposition.

Seen this way, this government has been a strange government: the causes that brought it to power (a wave of media and social weariness) are practically the same ones that threaten to dislodge it. And to top it off, next year, by law, is the prelude to elections.

Therefore, we must hurry up -I say-, otherwise, it will go like drunken water… (and with the -historical- aggravating circumstance that every re-election brings with it its pitfalls). Not difficult?

Of course, and it must be recognized, the current president has set a positive and laudable precedent: he has been able to rectify mistakes (a plausible rarity!).

The entrance Reversing Boomerang… was first published in The Caribbean Newspaper.
