Deferring the release of the generator program and instabilities in the site made the submission of Individual Income Tax Returns plummet on the first day of delivery compared to last year. Until 5 pm today (7), the Federal Revenue had received 130,099 statements.
The number represents a drop of 79.3% compared to that recorded on the first day of delivery of 2021, when 628,128 taxpayers had sent the document. One of the reasons for the drop was the fact that the IRS did not anticipate the download of the generator program because of the standard operation of the organ.
Normally, the IRS releases, at the end of February, the generator program for taxpayers who want to fill out the declaration in advance and send it on the first day of delivery. This year, however, the download it only started at the same time that the delivery deadline started, at 8 am today.
The delay in releasing the program created a bottleneck that resulted in instability on the Revenue website. The number of downloads of the generator program totaled 752,484, an increase of 141% compared to the number recorded on the first day of delivery last year (312,182). Due to the volume of hits, the Revenue page operated slowly throughout the day. In a note, the agency only informed that the situation is being dealt with by the technical area.
The deadline for submitting the Individual Income Tax Return started at 8:00 am today and continues until 11:59:59 pm on April 29. This year, the tax authorities expect to receive 34.1 million statements.
Anyone who misses the deadline will pay a fine of R$ 165.74 or 20% of the tax due, whichever is higher.
