The net revenue of the machinery and equipment industry sector in the country increased by 21.6% in 2021, compared to the previous year, reveals the balance of the Brazilian Association of the Machinery and Equipment Industry (Abimaq). The monthly average revenue in 2021 was R$18.5 billion and the annual total was R$222.4 billion.
In the monthly comparison, in December 2021, net sales revenues maintained the deceleration observed since the beginning of the second half, a total of R$ 17.1 billion, which represents a decrease of 6.9% compared to the month of November . Still, there was growth of 0.4% compared to December 2020.
December’s internal net revenue fell by 9.9% compared to the same month of the previous year and increased by 25.3% in 2021 compared to 2020. Revenue in December 2021 reached BRL 11 billion and R$ 168 billion throughout the year.
Exports of machinery and equipment fell in December 2021 (31.8%) compared to the previous month. However, compared to December of the previous year, there was an increase of 46.4% in December, when revenue of US$ 1 billion was reached, which resulted in an accumulated growth of 34.2% in the year, reaching a total of US$ 9.3 billion in 2021. In December 2021, the accumulated value of exports represented 24.4% of the sector’s sales revenue.
In the imports of machinery and equipment, there was also growth in the month of December (7.3%) in comparison with November and in the interannual comparison (26.7%). In the year, the accumulated growth reached 23.4%.
According to Abimaq, imports have stabilized at the level observed before the covid-19 pandemic, at around US$ 1.8 billion per month.
