About 84% of the oil export during September 2025 had as a direct or indirect destination to China, which remains the main buyer of the Venezuelan crude, many times through intermediaries
Venezuela exported an average of 1.09 million barrels per day (BPD) of oil during the month of September, the highest level since February 2020, according to shipping data of ships and internal documents of the state -owned Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) to which the agency obtained access Reuters.
The rebound represents an increase of 13% compared to August and a 39% jump compared to September 2024, at a time when the country tries to recover its position in the global energy market after years of productive collapse under sanctions in the United States.
Export growth was driven by greater production of crude oil, sales of accumulated inventories and increase in imports of diluents, inputs necessary to process heavy oil and turn it into exportable varieties.
About 84% of the oil export had a direct or indirect destination to China, which remains the main buyer of the Venezuelan crude, often through intermediaries.
The performance was also promoted by the license granted at the end of July by the administration of Donald Trump to Chevron, which allowed the American oil company to increase its cargoes from Venezuela. In September alone, Chevron sent 108,000 BPD to the United States, according to records.
52,000 barrels of oil and fuel daily to Cuba were also exported last month, and 74,000 metric tons of methanol and oil derived to Europe.
In August, Venezuela reported to the OPEC an oil production of 1.1 million BDP, exceeding 1.08 million BPD of the previous month and the highest since February 2019.
