Registration open in CECAP For young people from 14 to 20 years old
The registration period is open for the CECAP de Melo activities that will begin in the month of March together with the 2026 school year.
This is a non-formal education proposal that targets young people between 14 and 20 years old who are disconnected from the formal educational system and who have not completed Basic Secondary Education.
Those who are interested may also be part of the Rediscover Program that is executed together with UTU.
“The month of February is always dedicated to registration, to the famous neighborhoods going out through the streets of the city looking for young people to register because we start in March” manifested Cecilia Pintos.
In addition to the outings, which will be made during these days to the different neighborhoods, CECAP officials will attend the institution’s headquarters – the former home of Varones de INAU – between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. “Those children between 14 and 20 years old who have not finished the Basic Cycle with their Identity Card and their Adolescent Card can come, although the latter is not an exclusive requirement” accurate.
The fundamental objective of the proposal is to re-engage young people in the formal educational system, giving them a new learning opportunity. “Fortunately year after year we have been adding students. Although the numbers are sometimes very cold, they are also proof of the achievements they are achieving in their training, returning to the Lyceum or UTU to finish the Basic Cycle. That is fundamental for us, it is what motivates us to continue with this proposal” said the CECAP Coordinator of Melo.
In the month of December the institution registered a very significant number of registrations, but beyond that there are places available. “Although now February is the strongest point, throughout the year we will always have a place for a child who for various reasons has stopped studying. The idea is precisely that, that no one is disengaged from the educational proposal, no matter what stage of the year they are in.” he remarked.
REDISCOVER PROGRAM
He Professor Javier Pico explained to THE DIARY PROFESSIONAL What does the formal education proposal consist of, which is also taught at the Center in agreement with technical education.
“We work together with UTU. It is structured in two years. In 2025, 16 students went to the Technical School, which is very good for CECAP” commented the Rediscover Educator.
“There are already some kids registered, but we are waiting for them and we are also going to go out in search of more young people to try to register as many kids as possible” held.
“They work with UTU teachers in the different subjects and with the Workshops that CECAP has, in this case Gastronomy, Recreation and Sports, Audiovisuals, Music, Basic Knowledge and Educational Reference” commented the teacher.
Those who choose Rediscover will be able to complete Basic Secondary Education in 2 years, thus saving a year. “Those who finish these 2 years will already be able to move on to the 4th year of Secondary School or UTU” Javier Pico reported.
In this proposal, the quotas are smaller because the groups are intended to be made up of a maximum of 20 students, allowing for the creation of a well-individualized group unit.
