This Monday, January 31, the INE presented its report on the Average Salary Index (IMS) corresponding to December 2021.

According to the data, the Average Index of Nominal Salaries (IMSN) for December 2021 registered a monthly variation of 0.27% accumulated in the year, and 6.16% in the last 12 months.

Taking into account that the adjustment of retirement and pension allocations is established based on the variation of the Average Salary Index, the increase that retirees and pensioners will receive will be 6.16% as of February.

below inflation

At the end of December, the Executive had anticipated that the adjustment would be at least 5.87%, when the INE published the IMSN data corresponding to November, but the remaining 0.29% corresponds to the value of December, which at that time was not known.

In this way, the adjustment of liabilities in February will be below inflation, which closed at 7.96% in December.

This is the third consecutive year that the adjustment is less than the inflation percentage, which represents a clear loss of the purchasing power of liabilities.
