The Ministry of Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) reported this Wednesday the death of reserve division general Antonio Enrique Lussón Batlle, who held the honorary title of Hero of the Republic of Cuba.
Through his Twitter account, the Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez lamented the death of the high-ranking soldier, highlighted his extensive record of service” and offered his condolences to family and friends of Lussón Batlle, according to a office from the agency Latin Press (PL).

According to review published in the official gazette GranmaIn 1957, Lussón Batlle joined column No. 9 José Tey, commanded by René Ramos Latour. A year later he joined the Frank País Second Eastern Front and was promoted to the rank of Commander of the Rebel Army. He was appointed Chief of Column No. 17 Abel Santamaría.
Once the FAR was formed, he held different responsibilities, including: Chief of the Operations Section of the Western Army, Chief of the Operations Directorate of the General Staff, Chief of the Western Independent Corps, Second Chief of the FAR Inspection Body , and between 2000 and 2008, Head of the FAR Special Troops Headquarters, adds the note of Granma.
In addition, Lussón Batlle participated as Chief of the 180th Battalion of the National Revolutionary Militias during the rejection of the Bay of Pigs invasion and fulfilled two military missions in Angola.
