Retail sales grew 1% in November 2025 compared to October 2025. Compared to November 2024, retail sales volume grew 1.3%. The data was released this Thursday (15) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). 
You Data also shows that, in the year 2025, from January to November, retail sales registered an increase of 1.5%. The accumulated result for the previous 12 months, that is, from November 2024 to November 2025, also recorded a growth of 1.5%.
According to the release, between October and November 2025, in the seasonally adjusted series, retail trade had positive rates in seven of the eight activities surveyed:
Office, IT and communication equipment and material (4.1%);
Furniture and household appliances (2.3%);
Pharmaceutical, medical, orthopedic and perfumery articles (2.2%);
Other articles for personal and domestic use (2.0%);
Books, newspapers, magazines and stationery (1.5%);
Hyper, supermarkets, food products, drinks and tobacco (1.0%);
Fuels and lubricants (0.6%)
The only negative result was in fabrics, clothing and footwear (-0.8%). In the same comparison, extended retail trade presented a positive result, with construction material (0.8%), and another negative, with vehicles and motorcycles, parts and pieces (-0.2%).
Expanded retail trade includes vehicles, motorcycles, parts and pieces, construction materials and specialized wholesale in food, beverages and tobacco products.
Comparison with 2024
The group of equipment and material for office, IT and communication grew 9.9% in November 2025, compared to the same month of the previous year, greatest variation in the positive field among all sectors and third consecutive result of growth after a drop of 0.7% in August.
Sales of pharmaceutical, medical, orthopedic and perfumery items grew 7.2% compared to November 2024, the 33rd consecutive increase. According to IBGE, the sector exerted the greatest interannual influence on retail sales volume: 0.6 percentage points of the total growth of 1.3%.
Sales of furniture and household appliances grew 5.2%. The category of other articles for personal and domestic use, which includes department stores, opticians, jewelry stores, sporting goods, toys, among others, increased by 4.7%.
Sales of books, newspapers, magazines and stationery grew 5.9% and sales of hypermarkets, supermarkets, food products, drinks and tobacco rose 2.8% compared to November 2024.
Fuels and lubricants fell, with a negative result of 1.3%; fabrics, clothing and footwear, 4.0%.
Compared to the same month in 2024, expanded retail trade, however, decreased in 2025, presenting a negative variation of 0.3%.
