The Mexico City International Airport reported through its social networks that, in a plenary session, the members of the jury of the Architectural Conceptualization Contest voted on the participating proposals to renovate various areas of terminals 1 and 2, and only the one on the façade of Terminal 2 is deserted.
A few days ago, it was announced that in 2025 the airport facilities will be renovated with a view to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, since Mexico is one of the three venues for the soccer tournament, which is estimated to bring 6 million tourists to the country.
In this remodeling, the facades, clinics, waiting rooms, and baggage carousel and immigration areas of both terminals will be modernized.
