Resistencia defeats Olimpia and takes third place

Hoy Paraguay

The Chacarita team officiated at home today against Franjeado at the Defensores del Chaco stadium for the eighth date of the Apertura 2022 First Division tournament.

Those led by Roberto ‘Tiburón’ Torres took the lead in the first stage with a great goal from Ronaldo Martínez (21′) and another from Jesús Araújo (42′), who had the complicity of Alfredo Aguilar.

Olimpia tried to reduce the distance on the scoreboard and hammered as best they could, but had to wait until the 78th minute to find the discount in the boots of Guillermo Paiva, their young gunner.

Paiva’s goal gave Olimpia back their desire and they ended up tilting the field towards the goal defended by the Brazilian Rhuan Dos Santos.

Finally, the Dean confirmed a defeat that elevates Resistencia (15 points) to third place and stagnates it in fourth place with 14 units, 7 behind the current leader, Cerro Porteño (21), but it could be more if Libertad (19 ) beat Guaireña tomorrow in Villarrica.

For its part, the sky blue cast won again after three draws and one defeat and today it is the most productive of the teams that are committed to the rigorous table of averages.

Olimpia is forced to turn the page and quickly focus on the Copa Libertadores Group Phase superclassic that will star on Tuesday in Saxony with Cerro Porteño.
