Sheinbaum arrived in Veracruz after visiting flooded areas in Puebla. Governor Rocío Nahle accompanied her.
“My classmates from the Universidad Veracruzana couldn’t leave,” a young man complained to the president, who tried to calm him down. “Listen, we’re not going to hide anything,” he told her.
The young student assured that several of his classmates have been missing for at least three days, victims of the floods that affect dozens of municipalities in five states.

“It’s been three days and they haven’t shown up,” said the boy. “Yes, partner, but it was three days where it was totally flooded,” Sheinbaum responded.
Another voice of the residents pointed out that they ”did not want” the presence of Governor Nahle in the place.
Sheinbaum reiterated this afternoon that none of the victims will be left helpless.

At least 44 people died in the states after days of heavy rains and flooding, the government reported this Sunday.
Torrential rainfall from tropical storms ”Priscilla” and ”Raymond” caused landslides and flooding in five states.
18 deaths were recorded in the state of Veracruz, 16 in Hidalgo, nine in Puebla and one in Querétaro.
The government of President Claudia Sheinbaum manages a response plan to support 139 affected locations.
Photos published by the Mexican Army showed people being evacuated by soldiers using life rafts, houses flooded with mud and rescuers trudging through the streets of towns in waist-deep water.
“We continue to respond to the emergency in Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí, in coordination with the governor and governors, as well as various federal authorities,” Sheinbaum said on his X account.
“The National Emergency Committee is in permanent session,” he added.
