Residents of Masatepe, municipality of Masaya, complained about the constant assaults in their streets, while they do not see police patrolling, although they do, in pursuit of opponents.

“Police efficiency must be measured by how safe the city is, and Masatepe stopped being safe a while ago,” complained a citizen who had a cell phone taken from him days ago at a bus stop.

Masatepine families fear the increase in crime. They say that armed assaults are taking place more and more frequently in broad daylight and they complain that the police, in this municipality, do nothing to stop them. “This can go on,” they demanded.

A citizen, originally from this municipality, denounced, under anonymity, that crime in the streets “shot up” a few days after the inauguration of the bullfighting barrier in a baseball field known as El Comal, and although this place of entertainment It is located a short distance from the urban area of ​​Masatepe, it is presumed that it has caused the arrival of assailants from other places.

«In view of the celebrations of the patron saint festivities in honor of the Holy Trinity in Masatepe, the bull barrier was installed on Sunday (May 14), which increased crime in Masatepe. Before, there were one or two robberies a week, but this past week there were eight, regardless of the time of day,” says the interviewee.

Citizens denounced on their social networks, the persecution that a man did to a minor whom he intended to strip her of her belongings.

The event occurred on Monday, May 15, at 10 in the morning, near Central Park. The girl ran while the criminal followed her, and although the criminal did not achieve her mission, the act of intimidation of a minor has surprised the population of this municipality.

«This is messed up, they were things that were not seen here. Crime is loose. The municipal authorities should make less political life and solve this insecurity. We do not know what could have happened to that girl if she had not escaped,” criticized another citizen. “Let’s be careful,” she advised.

Another resident, who is alarmed by the situation of citizen insecurity, assured that robberies have increased by 50% in view and patience of the police authorities, who have been in charge of providing security to the bull barrier, neglecting crime on the streets.

“Previously there were their sporadic assaults, they were not frequent, nor did they occur in the morning hours, like the case of this girl who was persecuted. No one recognized the man, because apparently he is not from Masatepe,” they complained.

“This happens every year, nobody has ever done anything, we feel vulnerable and afraid because now we have to close the doors of our houses early,” added a concerned citizen.

The residents said they fear that crime in the streets will increase even more as the days go by, while the regime’s police continue without responding to this problem that occurs mainly in the urban area.
