Workers who have money in accounts of the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) and who were affected by the heavy rains that hit Betim, Rio Piracicaba and Santa Luzia, in Minas Gerais, and also São José do Calçado, in Espírito Santo, may request the release of the amount to which they are entitled as of today (4).
Residents of areas duly identified by the Civil Defenses in the three mining towns have until April 14 to request the withdrawal of the amount to which they are entitled. Those who live in the municipality of Espírito Santo can apply for the Calamidade Saque until April 26.
The FGTS Calamity Saque allows workers who have an account linked to the FGTS to withdraw part or all of the available money to cover urgent and/or serious expenses resulting from natural disasters. To be entitled to the withdrawal modality, the interested party must live in an area where the state, district or municipal government has decreed a situation of emergency or state of public calamity, recognized by the Ministry of Regional Development.
Natural disasters are those resulting from the rupture or collapse of dams; flooding or gradual flooding; flash floods or flash floods; floods; floods resulting from sea storms; gales or storms; extratropical cyclones; hurricanes; typhoons; tornadoes; waterspouts and hailstorms.
Each worker who has an available account balance can withdraw up to R$ 6,220.00, provided that he has not withdrawn other amounts for the same reason in the last 12 months.
